[How to] Flash Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 with Official Android 4.1.2 JellyBean Firmware

Samsung introduce a new smartphone after the journey of Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Ace plus. The new phone is Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160. It has a lots of features that not provided in Galaxy Ace. The phone has the TouchWiz 4.0 is a good user interface. The 16 M color depth is used in it as usual. The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 have a 4.0" PLS TFT capacitive touch screen with 400 x 800 pixel resolution offers the all visual enjoyment to the user. This phone has a 800 MHz dual core processor and has 768 MB RAM provide outstanding performance. The chipset used in Galaxy Ace 2 is NovaThor U8500. The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has a Mali 400 graphic processor which helps to play almost all games without any issues. The graphic processor is same as that of Galaxy S Advance. It is a good graphic processor.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2  has a good 5 megapixel camera with the resolution 2592 x 1944, which helps to capture a good clarity picture. The camera is capable of taking 720p HD video recording. The LED flash is helps to take good picture in dim light. The camera has auto focusing facility. It has a VGA secondary camera, helps to take a good self picture. The Galaxy Ace 2 will support GPRS, edge, 3G, wifi and so on. The GPRS and edge helps to live with the internet world. It has a Bluetooth v3.0 which helps to transfer documents and data very speedily with other devices.

The phone has a powerful battery. The 1500 mAh Li-ion battery provide a good battery capacity to the device. The phone comes with a internal storage of 4 GB. This is little small for a smartphone. But, don't worry. The phone has an external sd card slot which could be expandable up to 32 GB. This is enough for a smartphone user. This memory capacity is long enough to store movies, songs, data etc.

Samsung introduced this phone initially with Gingerbread 2.3 firmware. And the Samsung provide an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware. The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 could be updated with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware.Do not wait for official update. You can update update the device manually. There is no problem with this firmware. This new firmware has a lots of new features that could not available in Gingerbread. You can flash your device with Android 4.1.2 by following the given instructions. Please note that do not skip any step.

  • Make sure that the phone is charged atleast 80%, it is required to complete the flashing process without any power interruption.

  • Install USB driver of Samsung on your PC to communicate your phone and the computer.

  • There is a chance to lose your personal data such as contacts, messages, call logs after flashing your device. So you could better to take a back up of your personal data.

How to install this firmware?


  1. Download the required Android 4.1 XXMC8 firmware for Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 from here.

  2. Download the ODIN flash tool for flash the Galaxy Ace 2 with Android 4.1 firmware from here.

  3. Extract both firmware file and Odin flash tool file in to a folder on your computer.

  4. Turn your device to download mode by pressing volume down , home , power button simultaneously, and press volume up for confirm the operation.

  5. Run Odin on your computer and connect your device via USB cable.

  6. Now the Odin will detect your device and will display a added message, this indicate that your device is connected properly with the computer. If Odin does not shows the message, install USB driver again and restart your computer.

  7. Now select PDA box on Odin and choose the file which you downloaded in step 1. Please note that we require the extracted file. 

  8. Please check the Auto reboot and first reset time on Odin flash tool. Don't check repartition.

  9. Once again check all the above steps and confirm that all are done properly.

  10. Finally hit the start button of Odin flash tool and wait for 5 to 10 minutes to complete the process.

  11. After completing the process the Odin shows a pass message and your phone will restart automatically.

  12. Now again switch off your device and enter to recovery mode. This can be done by pressing volume up, home, and power button simultaneously.

  13. Now you are in recovery mode menu. Select the wipe data and factory reset and confirm the process by clicking yes.

  14. And select wipe cache partition and confirm it by pressing yes.

  15. Now reboot your device to complete the whole process.

Better to wait for the official release. I have heard this version contains several bugs (Phandroid forums)

No,Guyz! i try this one my device baseband Version is Unknown now ..the effects of unknown baseband is no detection of network 3g and 4g.. so Guyz dont try this one.. this is FAKe
